Gran Allegranza 2023

Gran Allegranza 2023 is a rich, expressive red wine from Alicante, Spain, shaped by late-harvested grapes and six months of French oak ageing. Its combination of ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate character and soft tannins makes it an approachable yet full-bodied choice for Mediterranean-inspired dining.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with violet-blue highlights. On the nose, ripe blackcurrants and juicy dark cherries are complemented by subtle wild-herb notes and an inviting aroma of dark chocolate. On the palate, Gran Allegranza is full-bodied, juicy and well balanced, combining generous mature fruit with a gently sweet impression and smooth tannins. The oak-derived chocolate character adds depth without overpowering the fruit. It is ready to enjoy now and should develop gracefully over the next few years when stored in suitable conditions.

Production
The grapes are harvested late, at the beginning of November, allowing them to reach a high level of ripeness. Following gentle pressing and destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 24–26°C, followed by skin maceration and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for six months in French oak barrels, adding structure and layers of dark chocolate and spice to the ripe fruit profile.

Food & Serving
Serve Gran Allegranza at approximately 16–18°C. Its ripe fruit, soft tannins and full body pair particularly well with grilled or roasted red meats, slow-cooked beef, lamb, hearty stews, barbecue dishes and mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but 30 minutes in a decanter can help open the wine and bring its dark-fruit aromas to the fore.
