Description
Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage Port 2020 is a classic expression of the Douro, drawn from fruit grown across four prized vineyard sites in the region’s dramatic hills. It combines Graham’s signature richness and structure with the accessibility of an LBV, offering immediate appeal while still reflecting the depth and heritage that have made the house one of Portugal’s most respected Port producers.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Port typically shows a deep ruby-purple color, hinting at its youthful concentration. The nose is generous and layered, with ripe black fruits, plum, dark cherry, and subtle floral notes, backed by spice, cocoa, and a touch of graphite or dried herb complexity.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and smoothly textured, with bold yet well-integrated tannins supporting rich blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Graham’s LBV has the balance to be enjoyed now, but it also has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next several years, gaining nuance and softness with time.
Production
This LBV is made from a blend of Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional sourced from Graham’s four vineyards in the mountainous Douro Valley. The 2020 growing season was marked by very dry conditions through much of spring and summer, tempered at key moment by welcome late-August rainfall at Quinta dos Malvedos, Graham’s flagship estate, which helped the fruit reach optimal ripeness ahead of harvest. Vinification follows traditional Port methods, preserving concentration, freshness, and varietal character.
Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to bring out the wine’s freshness and aromatic detail. It pairs beautifully with blue cheese, dark chocolate desserts, berry tarts, or richer dishes such as roasted game and slow-cooked lamb. Decanting for 30 to 60 minutes is recommended, especially if you want to soften the texture and allow the aromatics to open fully.
Producer
Graham’s is one of the great historic names in Port, founded in 1820 and long associated with excellence in the Douro and the production of some of the region’s most celebrated fortified wines. The house is particularly known for its deep, fruit-rich style and its strong connection to single-estate viticulture, especially at Quinta dos Malvedos. Over the years, Graham’s has earned a reputation for consistency, quality, and some of the finest vintage Ports in the region.
