Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2021 is a characterful and highly polished expression of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s most respected modern masters, Carlo Ferrini. Sourced from the estate’s small, meticulously farmed La Poderina parcel, it combines Brunello’s classic structure with notable finesse, precision, and aromatic lift.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the deep, radiant ruby tone typical of well-made Brunello. The nose is refined and layered, offering balsamic herbs, ripe red cherry, and floral nuances of violet and iris, with a subtle mineral edge in the background. The palate is medium-bodied but impressively complete, with sweetly ripe fruit framed by bright acidity and polished, fine-grained tannins. There is excellent balance and energy throughout, and the finish is long, elegant, and savory, suggesting strong aging potential over the coming decade or more.

Production
Giodo’s Brunello comes from La Poderina, a three-hectare amphitheater-shaped parcel planted with 19-year-old vines on a steep hillside overlooking Monte Amiata. The soils are pale and stony, helping to shape the wine’s tension, freshness, and mineral clarity. Careful vineyard work and thoughtful vinification allow the Sangiovese to express both power and detail in a pure, site-driven style.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for roasted lamb, beef braised in herbs, game birds, mushroom risotto, or aged hard cheeses such as Pecorino. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to let the wine open fully and show its aromatic complexity.

Giodo is the personal Brunello project of Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy’s most celebrated oenologists, who launched the estate in 2009. Though still relatively young, the property has quickly earned a place among Brunello’s most admired boutique producers, with critical acclaim for its precision, elegance, and site expression.
