Description

Ghislaine Barthod’s Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Véroilles 2008 is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s most admired terroirs. Sourced from a prized Premier Cru site and crafted by one of the appellation’s most respected domaines, it captures the finesse, perfume, and quiet power that have made Chambolle-Musigny legendary.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby hue with bright, graceful highlights. The nose is lifted and inviting, offering red cherry, raspberry, violet, and a subtle spice note that adds depth without overwhelming the wine’s delicacy. The palate is poised and harmonious, with a silky texture, finely integrated tannins, and a cool, lively acidity that brings focus to the fruit. As it opens, the wine reveals layers of floral nuance and savory complexity, finishing long and elegant. It has the structure to age beautifully, developing more earthy, truffly, and tertiary notes over time.

Production
This wine comes from Les Véroilles, a Premier Cru vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny known for producing wines of exceptional elegance and aromatic detail. The cooler 2008 vintage contributed freshness and precision, while the Pinot Noir grapes were vinified to preserve purity, lift, and the site’s natural finesse.

Food & Serving
This is a beautiful match for duck breast, roast quail, veal, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as soft, washed-rind, or mild aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting gently for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromatics to fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is a highly regarded Burgundy estate based in Chambolle-Musigny, admired for producing wines of remarkable precision, transparency, and terroir expression. The domaine has earned a strong reputation among collectors and Burgundy lovers for its meticulous vineyard work and consistently elegant wines, especially from Premier Cru sites.
