Description
Fritz Haag’s 1994 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Goldkapsel is an exceptionally rare Mosel treasure, bottled in a 375 ml format and signed by the producer himself. Crafted from carefully selected botrytized grapes from one of the region’s most celebrated steep slopes, it combines extraordinary sweetness, vibrant acidity, and classic slate-driven finesse. With its gold capsule and handwritten signature, this is as much a collector’s piece as it is a remarkable dessert wine.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Trockenbeerenauslese shows a luminous golden hue, hinting at its concentration and age. The nose is richly layered, opening with ripe peach, apricot, honey, and a delicate floral lift, all underpinned by the unmistakable Mosel mineral signature.
The palate is opulent and deeply sweet, yet never heavy thanks to the wine’s lively acidity and crystalline freshness. Flavors of dried stone fruit, honeyed citrus, and subtle earthiness linger on a long, polished finish with a refined mineral edge. This is a wine with superb aging potential, and the 1994 vintage has developed beautifully into a complex, contemplative style.
Production
Sourced from the Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, a steep Mosel site famed for its slate soils and ideal sun exposure, this wine reflects the cool-climate precision that defines great Riesling. The grapes were harvested late and by hand, with only the most perfectly shriveled berries selected for Trockenbeerenauslese production. Vinification was carried out with great care to preserve purity, balance, and the natural intensity of the botrytized fruit.
Food & Serving
Best served lightly chilled at around 8–10°C, this wine shines alongside blue cheese, foie gras, fruit-based desserts, or a simple selection of aged cheeses. It is also excellent enjoyed on its own as a медitative after-dinner wine. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a brief airing can help if the bottle has been in long cellar storage.

Fritz Haag is one of the Mosel’s most respected producers, with a long-standing reputation for producing elegant, precise Rieslings from top vineyard sites in Brauneberg.
