Description

Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern Hattenheimer Mannberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 1893 is a rare and exquisite Rheingau treasure, showcasing one of the highest expressions of Riesling. Produced from carefully hand-harvested grapes in the celebrated Hattenheimer Mannberg vineyard, this wine reflects both the precision of noble botrytis winemaking and the historic prestige of the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden color that signals great richness and maturity. The bouquet is intensely aromatic, with ripe peach, apricot, and honey leading the way, layered with subtle mineral nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and lusciously sweet, yet remarkably fresh and vibrant, with an elegant balance between concentrated fruit and lively acidity. The finish is long, persistent, and refined, carrying gentle mineral tones that keep the wine lifted and focused. Given its style and age, this is a wine made for contemplation, with exceptional aging potential and remarkable depth for collectors and Riesling lovers alike.

Production
This wine comes from Hattenheimer Mannberg in the Rheingau, a vineyard site known for producing wines of outstanding finesse and character. The grapes were harvested by hand and selected for Trockenbeerenauslese, a style made only in exceptional vintages from berries naturally shriveled by noble rot, concentrating sugar, acidity, and aroma before careful vinification.

Food & Serving
Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 8-10°C, this wine is ideal with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts, or simply served on its own as a luxurious after-dinner wine. Decanting is not usually necessary, though a gentle opening period in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic complexity.

Producer
Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern is a respected Rheingau estate with a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality Riesling wines. The estate is closely associated with the region’s classic style and vineyard heritage, and its wines have earned recognition for their precision, elegance, and ability to express the character of distinguished sites such as Hattenheimer Mannberg.
