Description

Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern’s Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 1989 is a rare Rheingau treasure, crafted from carefully selected grapes in one of Germany’s most celebrated wine regions. This exceptional sweet wine combines remarkable concentration, elegance, and longevity, making it a true collector’s piece as well as a memorable tasting experience.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden-yellow colour with a radiant sheen. The bouquet is intensely layered, offering ripe peach, apricot, honey, and a subtle citrus lift. On the palate, this Trockenbeerenauslese is full-bodied, lusciously sweet, and beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity and a fine mineral edge. The finish is long and persistent, with the structure to continue evolving gracefully for many years, if not decades, to come.

Production
Produced in the Erbacher Marcobrunn, one of the Rheingau’s most prized vineyard sites, this wine reflects the region’s cool-climate finesse and mineral-driven character. The grapes for this Trockenbeerenauslese were harvested at extreme ripeness, likely through painstaking selective picking of botrytised berries, and vinified to preserve purity, concentration, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts, blue cheese, foie gras, or a refined cheese course, and it can also be enjoyed on its own as a luxurious after-dinner wine. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a brief opening before serving can help the aromas unfold in the glass.

Producer
Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern is a respected historic estate in the Rheingau, a region long associated with some of Germany’s finest Rieslings. Known for its commitment to quality and its privileged vineyard holdings, the producer has earned recognition for crafting wines with depth, precision, and excellent ageing potential.
