Description
Fratelli Antonio & Raimondo Barolo Riserva 2018 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s most interesting family projects. Built from the legacy of three historic wine families—Sartirano, Levis and Arnulfo—this Riserva captures the depth, structure and elegance that have made Barolo one of Italy’s most celebrated wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barolo Riserva shows a classic garnet hue with the lighter rim typical of Nebbiolo. The nose opens with dried flowers, spice, sour red berries and subtle earthy nuances, while the palate is defined by tension, freshness and a firm, polished tannic backbone.
There is plenty of character here, with layers of red cherry, wild berries and savory spice unfolding over time. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and while it already offers impressive detail, it will reward further cellaring as the tannins soften and the aromatic profile becomes even more complex.
Production
Produced in Piemonte from Nebbiolo grown across carefully selected vineyard parcels, this Riserva reflects Paolo Sartirano’s focus on quality fruit and traditional Barolo craftsmanship. The family’s expanded holdings, including vineyards in the prestigious Bussia area of Monforte d’Alba, allow for a nuanced blend of expressions from different sites, all farmed with a sustainable mindset and harvested by hand to ensure healthy, ripe grapes for vinification.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, savory dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised beef, truffle risotto or slow-cooked game. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours, especially if opening young, to allow the aromatics to open and the tannins to soften.
Producer
Fratelli Antonio & Raimondo is rooted in the entrepreneurial vision of Paolo Sartirano, who has grown the family’s original 7 hectares into an important Piedmontese estate through strategic acquisitions. The winery draws on the heritage of the Sartirano, Levis and Arnulfo families, and its name honors the Levi brothers Antonio and Raimondo. Today, it stands out in the region for combining historic Barolo traditions with a modern ability to source and craft wines of consistent quality and strong value.
