Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a golden hue with a subtle copper shimmer. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe stone fruit, melon, delicate floral notes such as orange blossom, and a fine nutty undertone. The palate is concentrated yet focused, balancing generous yellow fruit with cool, lightly smoky mineral notes, lively acidity, and a creamy texture. It finishes long and elegant, with a saline, chalky edge that keeps the wine fresh and lifted. With its structure and balance, this wine has excellent ageing potential and should develop further complexity over the next several years.

Production
The grapes come from Kähner, a small terraced section of the famous Bassgeige vineyard in Oberbergen, where volcanic soils layered with loess create ideal conditions for Grauburgunder. The fruit is harvested with close attention to quality, and the winemaking is designed to highlight site character rather than oak influence. The wine is aged primarily in large oak casks and then rested on fine lees to build texture, depth, and complexity while preserving freshness.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for roasted or grilled fish such as salmon or turbot, as well as poultry, mushroom dishes, and firm cheeses with nutty character. Serve at 10–12 °C to bring out its aromatic detail and mineral drive. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help open the wine if served young.
