Franz Haas Lagrein is a distinctive Alto Adige red that showcases the dark charm and natural intensity of this native grape. Made by one of the region’s most respected family producers, it combines depth, elegance, and a quietly modern style that has made Lagrein a benchmark variety in northern Italy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, vivid red color with the concentration you’d expect from Lagrein. The bouquet is broad and expressive, moving from ripe red fruit and violets to spicy notes, fresh grassy nuances, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, it is generous and characterful, with firm yet velvety tannins, a pleasing sense of fullness, and a long, enveloping finish. It already offers plenty of immediate appeal, but it can also develop additional complexity over the next few years.

Production
This wine comes from sunny sites in Alto Adige, where Lagrein is grown at around 220 to 250 meters above sea level. The combination of warm exposure and the cooling Alpine influence helps preserve freshness while allowing the grape to ripen fully. Vinified as a dry still red wine, it is crafted to highlight varietal purity, structure, and aromatic intensity.

Food & Serving
A natural match for grilled red meats, roasted lamb, game, rich mushroom dishes, and aged Alpine cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant briefly if you want to soften the tannins and open up the bouquet.
