Franz Gojer Lagrein Granat is a deeply expressive South Tyrolean red that captures the variety’s hallmark power and elegance. Sourced from two distinct vineyards in Alto Adige, it balances structure, finesse, and regional authenticity in a style that speaks clearly of place and tradition.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep dark violet color with impressive concentration. The nose is layered with blackberry, chocolate, and subtle spicy notes, while the palate is full-bodied and meaty, framed by warm, firm tannins and a fresh, balancing acidity. The blend of fruit from Ora and Bolzano brings both depth and nuance, giving the wine a harmonious, complex profile. It has the structure to develop further over the next 5 to 10 years, gaining polish and softness with time.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards in Ora and Bolzano, two sites in South Tyrol with distinctly different soils: stony alluvial ground rich in porphyry in Ora, and alluvial soils over a porphyry base in Bolzano. Harvesting is done by hand to select the best clusters, and fermentation takes place under controlled conditions in large oak casks with a light toast. The wine then matures in large wooden barrels, helping soften the acidity and integrate its powerful frame.

Food & Serving
This Lagrein is an excellent match for braised meats, game, pork dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve it at 14–16 °C, and decant for around one hour before pouring to let the aromas open and the tannins soften.
