Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dense, dark purple core that hints at its concentration before the first swirl. The nose is layered and expressive, with cassis, blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, leather, lavender, sage, graphite, smoke, and a subtle lift of eucalyptus. The palate is powerful yet polished, unfolding with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, truffle, forest floor, and a touch of anise. It has the structure and intensity to age gracefully for decades, with reviewers noting that bottles may continue to improve well into the next 20 to 30 years.

Production
The grapes are grown on the estate’s Forman Vineyard in California, with the wine shaped in a distinctly Bordeaux-leaning style. Fruit is harvested by hand and sorted within 30 minutes of picking, ensuring only the best berries make it to fermentation, and the wine is then matured for 20 months in new French oak in Ric Forman’s deep underground cellars, ten levels below the surface.

Best enjoyed with equally serious cuisine such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, venison, short ribs, or dishes with mushroom and truffle accents. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young, both to soften the structure and allow the full aromatic complexity to emerge.
