Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red color with youthful clarity. The nose is lifted and refined, with notes of red cherry, wild strawberry, dried herbs, and a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, this Rosso di Montalcino is precise and balanced, combining juicy red fruit with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a savory mineral edge. It finishes clean and persistent, with the classic Sangiovese signature of freshness and finesse. While already attractive in its youth, it should also gain nuance over the next few years.

Made from Sangiovese grown in Tuscany’s Montalcino area, the wine reflects the district’s warm days, cool nights, and soils that favor aromatic intensity and structure. Fonterenza works with a careful, low-intervention approach, with harvesting carried out by hand to preserve fruit quality and select only the best grapes. Vinification is focused on expressing purity and site character, with thoughtful fermentation and aging that support freshness rather than overpowering the wine’s natural balance.

This wine is an excellent match for Tuscan cuisine, especially grilled meats, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, and pasta with tomato-based sauces. It also pairs beautifully with pecorino cheese and charcuterie. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a short decant if opened young to let the aromatics fully unfold.
