Description
Folonari Bolgheri Rosso Campo al Mare 2024 is a polished Tuscan red that brings together Bordeaux-style structure and the sun-soaked character of coastal Bolgheri. Crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it offers the kind of depth, freshness, and elegance that has made Bolgheri one of Italy’s most exciting red-wine regions.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful intensity. The nose is expressive and refined, with ripe dark berries, plum, subtle spice, and hints of Mediterranean herbs and cedar.
On the palate, expect a medium-to-full-bodied wine with supple tannins, juicy black fruit, and a balanced line of freshness that keeps everything lively. The blend brings both generosity and structure, and while it is enjoyable young, it should also develop nicely over the next few years, gaining complexity and softness with time.
Production
Produced in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s coastal strip, Campo al Mare benefits from a terroir shaped by sea breezes, warm days, and cooling influences that help preserve aromatic lift and acidity. The vineyards are typically managed with careful attention to ripening and grape selection, with harvesting carried out at optimal maturity for each variety. Vinification is designed to highlight fruit purity and varietal character, followed by ageing that adds polish and integrates the tannins.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with grilled steaks, roast lamb, game birds, mushroom risotto, and rich pasta dishes with tomato or meat sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if enjoyed young to allow the aromas to open fully.
