Production
Donna Franca is crafted on the western coast of Sicily, where sun-drenched vineyards face the Mediterranean and benefit from warm days, cooling sea breezes, and mineral-rich soils. Traditional Sicilian white varieties—typically including grapes such as Grillo and other local cultivars—are harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve both flavor intensity and balanced acidity. After fermentation, the wine is fortified with grape spirit, then aged for an extended period in a solera-style system of oak and chestnut casks, which encourages gradual oxidation and concentration. This long, patient maturation is what gives Donna Franca its deep amber color, layered aromatics, and signature complexity.

Florio Donna Franca is a superb companion to rich desserts such as tiramisu, Sicilian cannoli, almond pastries, dried fruit tarts, or flourless chocolate cake. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses—especially Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino, or blue cheeses—where its sweetness and nuttiness play against salt and umami.
