Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with darker purple reflections, this is a generously aromatic Syrah, offering ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum alongside violet, spice and subtle hints of pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rounded, with concentrated dark-fruit flavours, supple tannins and well-integrated acidity. Subtle savoury and smoky nuances add complexity, while the finish is persistent and balanced. The 2019 vintage can be enjoyed now after decanting, but should develop further over the next several years when stored in suitable conditions.

The wine comes from Fattoria Le Pupille’s vineyards in Maremma, southern Tuscany, a region shaped by Mediterranean warmth and cooling coastal influences. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decant for 30–60 minutes before serving, particularly when opening the bottle young, to soften the tannins and allow the aromas to unfold.

Fattoria Le Pupille is a leading estate in Maremma and a true pioneer of modern Tuscan wine. The name refers to the two hilltop farms overlooking the medieval village of Pereta, seen as the ‘eyes’ watching over the village. Under the leadership of Elisabetta Geppetti, the family estate developed into an innovative and internationally recognised producer. Today, it manages approximately 75 hectares of vineyards across Maremma, with Sangiovese at the heart of its celebrated Morellino wines. The estate launched its first Saffredi in 1987, a landmark wine that helped bring Maremma’s exceptional quality to the attention of wine lovers in Tuscany and beyond.
