Fattoria Le Pupille’s Toscana Syrah 2018 is a distinctive expression of Syrah from Maremma, combining the variety’s natural power with the freshness and elegance of the Tuscan coast. Rich, complex and beautifully balanced, it reflects the pioneering spirit of one of southern Tuscany’s most respected estates. The wine is named after the “pupille”, or eyes, formed by the two hilltop farms watching over the medieval village of Pereta.

Tasting Notes
Deep and intense in appearance, the 2018 Toscana Syrah opens with an expressive bouquet of black pepper, liquorice and cocoa, followed by evocative leather notes reminiscent of traditional Tuscan tanneries. On the palate, its generous structure is lifted by remarkable freshness, while layers of spice and exotic seasoning unfold across the tongue. Full-bodied and polished, it finishes with impressive length and persistence. The wine’s balance between concentration, freshness and supple texture makes it approachable now, while its structure should allow it to develop further complexity in bottle over the coming years when stored in suitable conditions.

Production
Produced in Maremma, in southern Tuscany, the wine benefits from the region’s Mediterranean climate and the varied mosaic of vineyard sites surrounding the estate. The Syrah grapes are carefully harvested at optimal ripeness before being vinified with a focus on preserving both varietal character and freshness. The result is a rich yet refined red that expresses the warmth of the Tuscan coast without losing its elegance.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for grilled or roasted red meats, venison, lamb and richly flavoured stews, it also works well with mature hard cheeses and dishes seasoned with pepper, herbs or warm spices. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended, particularly when opening the wine young, to allow its aromatic complexity and polished structure to fully emerge.

Producer
Fattoria Le Pupille is a true pioneer of Maremma and is closely associated with the region’s finest red wines. Led to modern prominence by Elisabetta Geppetti, the family estate now encompasses approximately 75 hectares of vineyards spread across the diverse landscapes of southern Tuscany. Sangiovese accounts for much of the estate’s plantings and forms the soul of its celebrated Morellino wines, while the launch of Saffredi in 1987 established Le Pupille as a producer of exceptional international standing, both in Tuscany and well beyond.
