Fattoria Le Pupille’s Morellino di Scansano Riserva 2022 is a refined expression of Tuscany’s coastal Maremma, combining ripe dark-fruit character with freshness and supple tannins. Produced under the Morellino di Scansano Riserva designation, it reflects one of the region’s most distinctive red-wine traditions and offers both immediate appeal and excellent bottle-aging potential.

Tasting Notes
The wine presents a deep, bright ruby-red colour. Its aroma is inviting and fruit-driven, with elegant notes of blackberry and blueberry jam, complemented by a subtle sense of depth from its time in large oak casks. On the palate, it is round, flavourful and well-balanced, with a lively freshness that gives the wine energy and definition. Silky, polished tannins provide a graceful structure and a long, persistent finish. The 2022 vintage can be enjoyed now after a little aeration, while its freshness and tannic balance should support further development in bottle over the coming years.

Production
Produced in the Maremma area of southern Tuscany, the wine benefits from the warm Mediterranean influence and the freshness that characterises Morellino di Scansano. Fermentation takes place at 26°C in stainless-steel tanks, helping to preserve the wine’s vibrant fruit profile and clarity. It then matures for 15 months in large 20–40-hectolitre casks made from Slavonian oak, allowing the wine to gain complexity while retaining its supple, fruit-focused character.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for Tuscan-inspired cuisine, this Riserva works particularly well with grilled or roasted meats, wild boar ragù, hearty pasta dishes, aged Pecorino and mushroom-based recipes. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential, but 30–60 minutes in a decanter can help open the aromas and further soften the wine’s structure, especially when enjoyed young.
