Production
Mas d’En Caçador sits high in the hills of Priorat, Catalonia, on classic llicorella (slate) soils that yield intensely mineral, low-yielding grapes. The 2022 Nit de Nin Mas d’En Caçador is a field blend dominated by 66% Garnacha and 31% Cariñena with 3% white varieties interplanted in the old vines, reflecting the traditional mixed vineyard of the region. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested from these steep, terraced vineyards, ensuring precise selection of perfectly ripe but balanced fruit. In the cellar, Familia Nin-Ortiz works with minimal intervention, allowing native yeasts to drive fermentation and emphasizing gentle extraction to preserve finesse. The wine is then matured in carefully chosen oak (often larger or neutral vessels) to polish the tannins and integrate the components without overshadowing the terroir. Just 2,800 bottles were produced, and the wine was bottled in April 2024.
