Description
Famiglia Pasqua Valpolicella 2023 is a lively, classically styled red from the hills around Verona, capturing the easy charm and food‑friendly character that has made Valpolicella famous. Made from the traditional local grapes Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina, it offers a bright, approachable expression of Veneto’s reds at their most drinkable. Signed by Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine, it reflects the family’s deep connection to the Veronese landscape and its timeless wine traditions.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Valpolicella shows a vibrant ruby-red color with youthful purple highlights, underlining its freshness and energy. The nose is fragrant and inviting, with notes of red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry layered with hints of dried herbs, violets and a gentle touch of spice.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied, juicy and supple, with crunchy red fruit, a subtle bitter cherry twist and a clean, dry finish. Fine, soft tannins and lively acidity give the wine a refreshing, moreish character that makes each sip easy to enjoy. This 2023 vintage is made to be enjoyed young for its purity of fruit and vibrancy, though it will hold nicely for a few years, gaining a touch of softness and greater harmony over time.
Production
The grapes for Famiglia Pasqua Valpolicella 2023 come from selected vineyards in the Valpolicella area of Veneto, where a mix of limestone and clay soils, rolling hillsides and a mild climate shaped by nearby Lake Garda provide ideal conditions for these native varieties. Corvina and Corvinone form the backbone of the blend, supported by Rondinella and Croatina for color, fragrance and structure. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, typically by hand in many of the more traditional sites, to ensure careful selection of healthy bunches. Fermentation takes place in temperature‑controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve fresh fruit aromas, followed by a short period of maturation in tank before bottling. The result is a clean, fruit‑driven Valpolicella that emphasizes immediacy, balance and drinkability rather than heavy oak influence.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile, everyday Valpolicella that shines alongside a wide range of Italian dishes. Try it with classic tomato‑based pastas, pizza with cured meats, grilled vegetables, roast chicken, charcuterie, or lighter meat dishes such as pork or veal scaloppine. It also works beautifully with medium‑aged cheeses and simple antipasti. Serve at 14–16°C to highlight its freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting is not essential, but opening the bottle 15–20 minutes before serving will help the aromas open up.
