Evangile Pomerol, 2021

Château L’Évangile 2021 is a refined Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s most admired appellations, where Merlot takes the lead with elegance and depth. Blended with Cabernet Franc, it offers the plush texture and dark-fruited character that make Pomerol so sought after, while reflecting the finesse of a cooler, classically styled vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is deep ruby with a vibrant core, hinting at both concentration and freshness. The nose opens with black cherry, plum, violets, cedar, and subtle earthy notes, with the Cabernet Franc bringing a lifted, aromatic edge. On the palate, it is silky and layered, with ripe dark berries, fine-grained tannins, and a graceful mineral undercurrent. The finish is long and polished, showing excellent balance and a promising structure that should reward further ageing over the next decade or more.

Sourced from the clay-and-gravel soils of Pomerol, the wine benefits from a terroir particularly suited to Merlot, which thrives here alongside Cabernet Franc. The grapes are typically harvested by hand to preserve fruit quality and carefully sorted before vinification, allowing for a precise expression of the vintage and site.

This is an excellent match for dishes like roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, or mushroom-based cuisine, where the wine’s texture and freshness can shine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to let the aromatics and structure fully open up.
