Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2015 Espectacle del Montsant shows a deep, luminous ruby core with garnet highlights, reflecting both concentration and a touch of bottle evolution. The nose is forward and expansive, with layers of ripe red and black cherries, wild strawberries and plum compote, interwoven with notes of dried Mediterranean herbs, licorice, violets and a touch of warm earth and spice. On the palate, the wine is plush and enveloping, broader and more opulent than the 2014 vintage. Ripe red and dark fruit glide across the tongue, supported by velvety tannins and a beautifully integrated acidity that gives shape without sharpness. There is a sense of richness and generosity, but the texture remains polished and silky, leading to a long, perfumed finish with hints of sweet spice and garrigue. Already very approachable and harmonious, the 2015 has the structure and balance to evolve gracefully for at least another 8–12 years under good cellaring conditions.

Production
Espectacle del Montsant is sourced from a single, steep, old-vine Garnacha vineyard in the high hills of Montsant, overlooking the dramatic landscapes of Catalonia. The vines, deeply rooted in poor, stony soils with a mix of clay and limestone, produce naturally low yields and intensely flavored fruit. Harvesting is done by hand, parcel by parcel, with strict selection to ensure only perfectly ripe clusters are used. In the cellar, the grapes are gently destemmed and fermented with great care to preserve aromatics and finesse, followed by aging in large French oak foudres. This choice of large-format oak emphasizes texture, complexity and terroir expression rather than overt oak flavor, resulting in a wine that is both powerful and finely detailed.

Food & Serving
The richness and suppleness of Espectacle del Montsant 2015 make it a superb partner for flavorful, Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Think herb-crusted lamb, slow-braised beef or pork cheeks, roasted game birds, grilled Iberian pork, or hearty vegetable dishes with roasted peppers, eggplant and thyme. It also pairs beautifully with aged Manchego or other firm, nutty cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) for the best expression of aroma and texture. Decanting for 1–2 hours before serving is recommended to allow the wine to fully open and reveal its layers of fruit, spice and floral notes.
