Description

Enrico Gatti Franciacorta Brut is a refined Italian sparkling wine crafted entirely from Chardonnay in the heart of Lombardy’s famed Franciacorta region. Made in the traditional method, it offers a Champagne-level experience with a distinctly Italian elegance and energy. This cuvée has become a benchmark for those seeking serious, terroir-driven bubbles that remain effortlessly enjoyable and food-friendly.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Enrico Gatti Franciacorta Brut shows a bright, straw-yellow hue with fine, persistent bubbles that form a delicate mousse. The nose is fresh and inviting, with aromas of citrus zest, green apple, white flowers and a subtle hint of brioche and almond, reflecting its time on the lees. On the palate, it is dry, vibrant and finely textured, combining crisp acidity with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of lemon, pear, and crunchy apple are layered with notes of toasted bread, hazelnut and a gentle mineral edge, leading to a clean, lingering finish. This Franciacorta is delicious now for its liveliness and precision, yet it has the structure to develop a bit more complexity over the next 3–5 years.

Production
Sourced from hillside vineyards in Franciacorta, this wine benefits from well-drained, glacial and morainic soils that lend tension and minerality to the Chardonnay. The grapes are typically harvested by hand to ensure careful selection and preserve freshness. After a gentle pressing, the base wines are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to retain purity of fruit. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the traditional method, with an extended period of lees aging to build texture, fine bubbles and subtle pastry notes before disgorgement and a carefully judged Brut dosage.

Food & Serving
Enrico Gatti Franciacorta Brut is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with oysters, shrimp, sashimi, and other delicate seafood dishes, as well as light pasta, risotto, poultry, and soft cheeses. It also shines as an elegant apéritif. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its precision and freshness. A brief opening in the glass is sufficient; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into proper sparkling wine flutes or tulip-shaped glasses will enhance the aromatics and mousse.

Producer
The Gatti family has been crafting Franciacorta in Lombardy since the late 20th century, steadily building a reputation for precise, Chardonnay-focused sparkling wines that express their local terroir. Enrico Gatti is known for an artisanal, quality-driven approach, emphasizing careful vineyard work and meticulous traditional-method production. Within the Franciacorta region, the estate is appreciated for delivering wines that balance approachability with depth, helping to showcase Franciacorta as Italy’s premier source of classic-method sparkling wines on the international stage.
