El Enemigo Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Chacayes Cabernet Franc 2021 is a standout expression of high-altitude Mendoza, crafted from one of Argentina’s most acclaimed vineyard sites. Led by the Catena family’s legacy and winemaker Alejandro Vigil’s precision, it combines Cabernet Franc’s elegance with a touch of Malbec for added depth and structure.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a vivid, intensely colored red with an impression of concentration and purity. The nose is aromatic and layered, showing dark berries, fresh herbs, graphite, spice, and the mineral lift that often defines serious Andes-grown Cabernet Franc. On the palate, it is powerful yet finely detailed, with ripe tannins, vibrant acidity, and excellent tension. The wine has a long, structured finish and the balance to age gracefully over many years, gaining complexity with bottle development.

Production
The grapes come from the Chacayes single vineyard near Tunuyán in the Andes, planted at around 1,100 meters above sea level. The site’s high density of 7,000 vines per hectare encourages deep root growth and naturally low yields, helping produce fruit of exceptional concentration and quality. The wine was matured for 15 months in 100-year-old foudres, allowing the fruit and site character to remain front and center while adding subtle texture and refinement.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled beef, lamb, venison, mushroom dishes, and richly flavored Mediterranean cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to let the wine fully open and show its aromatic complexity.
