Tasting Notes
The wine shows a luminous pale-gold colour. Its expressive bouquet reveals ripe peach, apricot and citrus fruits, layered with subtle honeyed notes and the distinctive slate-driven minerality associated with Scharzhofberg. On the palate, it is rich and beautifully concentrated, with a refined balance between natural sweetness and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, fresh and graceful, with lingering fruit and mineral nuances. This is a Spätlese with both immediate charm and excellent ageing potential. Stored carefully, the 2020 vintage should develop greater complexity over many years, with the fruit evolving towards deeper honeyed, spicy and mineral tones while retaining its freshness.

Production
The grapes originate in the famed Scharzhofberger vineyard on the Saar, known for its steep, slate-rich slopes and cool conditions that allow Riesling to ripen slowly while preserving its natural acidity. As a Spätlese, the fruit was harvested at an advanced level of ripeness, resulting in greater concentration of flavour and sugar. The precise vineyard selection and restrained winemaking style allow the site’s mineral character, fruit purity and balance to remain at the centre of the wine.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its combination of sweetness, acidity and mineral freshness makes it an excellent match for fish, shellfish, lightly dressed salads and delicate poultry, while its aromatic intensity also complements mildly spicy Asian cuisine. It is equally enjoyable as an aperitif. Decanting is generally not necessary, although a short period of aeration in the glass can help reveal additional layers and complexity.
