E. Pira e Figli – Chiara Boschis Barolo Via Nuova 2021 is a beautifully composed Barolo that brings together fruit from several prized sites, offering both classic structure and immediate appeal. Made from Nebbiolo in Piedmont and produced in limited quantity, it reflects the elegance and precision that have made Chiara Boschis one of Barolo’s most respected modern voices.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the deep, luminous ruby tone typical of great Nebbiolo, with an inviting concentration that hints at its youthful power. The nose opens with dark blueberry and black fruit, lifted by ethereal notes of blue flowers and a subtle touch of anise, giving the wine a layered, aromatic profile. On the palate, Via Nuova delivers a firm inner structure and notable richness, balanced by tannins that are a little more approachable than those of Mosconi. The mouthfeel is dense yet refined, with intensity and depth that promise excellent development over time. While already expressive, this is a Barolo with strong aging potential and should gain further complexity with cellaring.

Production
Via Nuova is a blend of fruit sourced from multiple sites, bringing together different expressions of Nebbiolo to create a wine with balance, depth, and complexity. Produced in Piedmont from carefully selected vineyard parcels, the wine reflects the region’s characteristic combination of limestone-rich soils, cool alpine influence, and long growing season. The 2021 vintage was limited to around 15,000 bottles, underscoring its small-production, artisanal character.

Food & Serving
This Barolo is an excellent match for rich Piedmontese dishes, braised beef, veal shank, truffle risotto, mushroom-based pasta, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
