Description
Dujac Fils & Père Gevrey-Chambertin 2013 is a fine expression of one of the Côte de Nuits’ most admired villages, combining the depth and structure Gevrey-Chambertin is known for with Domaine Dujac’s trademark precision and elegance. Sourced from selected parcels on clay and limestone slopes, it captures both the cool, mineral character of the site and the refinement of a carefully handled Pinot Noir. The 2013 vintage adds a particularly poised, classic feel, now showing some early maturity while retaining freshness and energy.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear, luminous ruby hue with the graceful transparency typical of well-made Burgundy. The nose opens with red berries, forest floor, a touch of smoke, and subtle spice, giving it that unmistakable Gevrey combination of perfume and earthy depth.
On the palate, the wine is sleek and focused, with lively acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a cool, linear profile. The fruit is balanced by savory mineral notes and a gentle oak frame, resulting in a wine that feels both elegant and grounded. It is drinking well now, but still has enough structure to continue developing complexity over the next several years.
Production
This wine comes from carefully selected parcels on clay- and limestone-rich slopes in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits, where the terroir lends both structure and mineral detail to the fruit. The grapes are hand-harvested, then partially destemmed before fermentation with natural yeasts, a method that helps preserve the purity and site expression of the wine. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with only a small proportion of new oak used to add texture and complexity without overshadowing the Pinot Noir character.
Food & Serving
A natural match for roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, lamb, and richly flavored poultry, this wine also pairs beautifully with dishes featuring earthy herbs, root vegetables, or truffle. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes if opening it now, especially to allow the aromas to unfold fully.
Producer
Domaine Dujac is one of Burgundy’s most respected producers, founded in Morey-Saint-Denis and known for its thoughtful, low-intervention approach to Pinot Noir. The estate has built a strong reputation for wines that combine elegance, transparency, and aging potential, and it is especially admired for capturing the nuances of Côte de Nuits terroirs. Dujac Fils & Père reflects the domaine’s continued commitment to craftsmanship and regional expression.
