Dugat-Py’s Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St. Jacques 2013 comes from one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru sites in Gevrey-Chambertin, a vineyard long celebrated for producing Pinot Noir with both depth and refinement. Crafted from old vines and handled with meticulous care, this is a cuvée that reflects the historic prestige of Lavaux St. Jacques as well as the estate’s uncompromising style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, vibrant ruby hue with hints of garnet beginning to emerge at the rim. The nose is expressive and layered, offering ripe cherry, blackberry, and subtle forest floor notes, followed by spice, earth, and a clear mineral edge. On the palate, the 2013 vintage is beautifully balanced, with fresh dark fruit framed by rounded tannins and a silky texture. The wine has entered a graceful stage of maturity, where its intensity is now matched by harmony and elegance. The finish is long, precise, and nuanced, with enough structure to continue evolving for several more years.

Production
The wine comes from old-vine parcels in Lavaux St. Jacques, where limestone- and clay-rich soils naturally keep yields low and concentrate the fruit. Harvesting is done by hand, with careful sorting before fermentation in small open vats and an extended maceration to build complexity and structure. It is then matured for around 18 months in new oak barrels, adding depth and definition while preserving the site’s finesse and mineral character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for refined meat dishes such as roast duck, venison, beef fillet, or game birds, as well as mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if you want to bring out the wine’s aromatic detail and soften its structure.
