Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Evocelles 2011

Dugat-Py’s Gevrey-Chambertin Evocelles 2011 is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of the more elevated, cooler sites north of Gevrey-Chambertin. With old vines, low yields and the Domaine’s exacting approach in both vineyard and cellar, it captures the balance of Burgundy elegance and Dugat-Py’s signature depth and structure.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2011 shows the graceful maturity of a wine that has had time to unfold, with a bright, polished ruby-garnet color. The nose moves beyond its earlier dark cherry and blackberry profile into more layered notes of dried fruit, forest floor, mushroom, leather and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is silky and composed, with rounded tannins and a lively line of acidity that keeps the finish precise and persistent. The overall impression is one of harmony rather than power, and while it is fully enjoyable now, it still has enough structure to hold well for further short- to medium-term cellaring.

Production
Les Evocelles comes from a high-lying, cool parcel north of Gevrey-Chambertin, where limestone-rich soils and mature vines naturally yield small, concentrated berries with freshness and aromatic intensity. The fruit is harvested by hand with strict selection, then fermented in small open vats before aging for around 16–18 months in new oak barrels, a regimen that adds structure and depth without obscuring the site’s finesse.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, beef tenderloin, or classic Burgundian fare such as coq au vin. Serve at around 16–18°C, and if opening now, a gentle decant of 30–60 minutes can help the wine fully reveal its aromatics and softer, more mature texture.
