Duckhorn Vineyards’ Napa Valley Chardonnay 2021 is a polished, crowd-pleasing expression of California Chardonnay, combining freshness, richness, and impressive balance. Sourced from some of the coolest sites in Napa Valley, including more than half from Los Carneros, it reflects both the region’s elegance and Duckhorn’s long-standing reputation for crafting refined white wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, inviting profile with a ripe, luminous character. Aromas of peach, citrus, pear, and mango rise first, followed by layers of brioche and crème brûlée from the oak aging. The palate is smooth and generous, with peach and pear at the core, supported by notes of apricot, clove, and lemongrass. French oak lends gentle richness and spice without overpowering the fruit, while the cool-climate sourcing keeps the wine fresh and well-defined. It should drink beautifully now and has the structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
This Chardonnay is built from fruit selected across several of Napa Valley’s coolest vineyard areas, with Los Carneros contributing more than half of the blend. The remaining parcels were carefully chosen by winemaker Renée Ary for their ability to bring freshness, texture, and complexity to the final wine. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels with stirring of the lees, followed by maturation in French oak, 40% of which was new, adding depth and subtle toastiness to the finished wine.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile Chardonnay that pairs well with roast chicken, creamy pasta, lobster, seared scallops, or grilled salmon. It is best served slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, and does not require decanting, though a little time in the glass will allow its aromatics to open fully.
