Dominus Estate Othello 2018 is a refined and approachable expression from the historic Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley, created to showcase the site’s character in a more youthful, accessible style. Crafted from a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it carries the hallmark precision and pedigree of Christian Moueix’s winemaking philosophy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Othello 2018 shows an intense, bright red-black colour. The nose is clean and polished, opening with cherry, blackcurrant, mocha, and a subtle touch of vanilla. The palate is deep and generous, with silky-soft tannins and a graceful, expressive finish. It is designed to be enjoyed young, though it should continue to develop nicely over the next several years as the structure integrates further and the dark fruit profile becomes even more layered.

Production
Othello comes from the renowned Napanook vineyard in California, where the warm, dry microclimate is managed with meticulous attention to detail. The grapes are harvested by hand, with sun-exposed rows picked a few days earlier than those on the shaded side, and sorted both manually and by optical selection to ensure only the best fruit is used. After fermentation, the wine is matured for 14 months in French oak barrels, which adds subtle spice and complexity without overpowering the wine’s pure fruit expression.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled beef, roast lamb, venison, or rich dishes such as duck breast and mushroom risotto. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to allow the aromatics to open and the tannins to soften.

After establishing Dominus as a flagship Napa Valley estate, Othello was introduced as a second wine to offer a more approachable expression of the Napanook vineyard, while still reflecting the estate’s exacting standards and Bordeaux-inspired craftsmanship.
