Dominus Estate Othello 2016 is the third wine from the historic Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley, offering a beautifully pure expression of one of California’s most celebrated terroirs. Crafted by Christian Moueix, it brings together Bordeaux-inspired structure and elegance in a style that is approachable young, yet unmistakably serious in pedigree.

Tasting Notes
Othello 2016 shows a vivid, intense red-black color in the glass. The bouquet is polished and refined, opening with cherry and blackcurrant, followed by mocha and a delicate touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is deep and generously textured, with silky tannins and a long, expressive finish that balances richness with grace. While already approachable, it has the concentration and structure to evolve nicely over the next several years.

Production
Made from a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, Othello is sourced from the historic Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley, where the different vineyard exposures are harvested at slightly different times to capture optimal ripeness. The grapes are picked by hand, then carefully sorted both manually and with optical sorting before fermentation. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, which adds subtle spice and polish without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red for roast lamb, grilled beef, braised short ribs, or game dishes, and it also pairs well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if drinking young to help the wine open up fully.
