Dominus Estate Othello 2013 is the third wine from the iconic Dominus estate, sourced from the historic Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley. Crafted as a more approachable expression of the estate’s terroir, it offers a classic Bordeaux-style blend with remarkable purity, elegance, and immediate charm, while still carrying the pedigree of Christian Moueix’s uncompromising winemaking tradition.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Othello 2013 shows a vivid, intense red-black color that hints at its depth and concentration. The nose is polished and refined, opening with aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, mocha, and a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied yet remarkably graceful, with silky tannins and a long, expressive finish that balances ripe dark fruit with freshness and structure. While approachable in its youth, the wine still has the balance and complexity to develop further over the next several years. Its elegant frame and finely integrated oak should allow it to evolve beautifully, gaining more nuance and softness with time.

Production
Othello 2013 is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, sourced from the Napanook vineyard in California’s Napa Valley. The vineyard’s warm, dry microclimate is managed with meticulous vineyard work inspired by Bordeaux traditions, including hand harvesting, separate picking of sun-exposed and shaded fruit, and both optical and manual sorting to ensure only the best grapes are selected. After fermentation, the wine is matured for 14 months in French oak barrels before bottling.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled ribeye, beef tenderloin, duck breast, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 hour if enjoyed young to allow the aromas and texture to खुलly open up.

Dominus was founded by Christian Moueix, one of Bordeaux’s most respected winemakers, who brought a rigorous vineyard-first philosophy to Napa Valley. Othello was created as a second-label expression designed to showcase the character of the vineyard in a more accessible, youthful style.
