Flor de Pingus 2015 is one of Ribera del Duero’s most sought-after modern Tempranillos, offering remarkable depth, precision, and polish. Sourced from old-vine parcels close to the legendary Pingus vineyards and released directly from the cellar, it combines serious concentration with the fresh, refined style that has made Dominio de Pingus an icon in Spanish fine wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, almost black-ruby color that hints at its intensity. The nose opens with dark berries, especially blackberry and ripe cherry, layered with roasted spice, vanilla, and subtle smoky notes. The palate is full and powerful, yet remains elegant and balanced, with ripe tannins and vibrant acidity carrying the wine through a long, complex finish. Dark fruit, a touch of licorice, and a mineral backbone add depth and suggest excellent aging potential over many years.

Production
Flor de Pingus 2015 is made entirely from Tempranillo grown on old vines, around 35 to 45 years of age, from carefully selected parcels in Castilla y León near the top Pingus sites. The vintage was warm, so harvest timing was crucial to preserve freshness and avoid overripeness, with each parcel vinified separately before maturation. The wine aged for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, including both new oak and barrels previously used for Pingus. It is bottled without fining or filtration, and low yields are used to maintain concentration, purity, and structure, allowing the fruit to remain at the center while the oak provides support rather than dominance.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, beef tenderloin, game, and rich stews, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to open up the aromatics and soften the tannins.

Dominio de Pingus, founded by Danish-born winemaker Peter Sisseck, quickly became one of Spain’s most respected producers and a benchmark for modern Ribera del Duero. Best known for the cult wine Pingus, the estate has earned international acclaim for its meticulous vineyard work, tiny yields, and uncompromising quality, with Flor de Pingus offering a slightly more approachable expression of the same exceptional vision.
