Description
Domini Veneti Bardolino Chiaretto 2024 is a fresh, elegant rosé from the shores of Lake Garda in Veneto, crafted from the classic local grapes Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella. This is a light, vibrant Chiaretto that captures the breezy, Mediterranean charm of northern Italy in a glass. Its appeal lies in its effortless drinkability, beautifully judged fruit and a fine balance between delicacy and character, making it ideal for relaxed aperitifs and refined dining alike.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Bardolino Chiaretto shows a delicate, luminous onion-skin to pale salmon pink hue, with bright, crystalline reflections that signal its freshness and youth. The nose is inviting and aromatic, with notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants and pomegranate, lifted by hints of citrus zest, rose petals and a touch of white peach.
On the palate, it is dry, light to medium-bodied and wonderfully refreshing, with juicy red berry fruit, subtle floral tones and a gentle, savory-herbal edge typical of the Garda area. A lively acidity keeps everything crisp and precise, while a faint mineral note runs through the finish, adding length and finesse. Enjoyed in its youth, this rosé is at its best within 1–3 years of the vintage, when its vibrant fruit and freshness are most expressive.
Production
Sourced from vineyards in the Bardolino area near Lake Garda in Veneto, this Chiaretto benefits from a mild, ventilated climate and morainic, mineral-rich soils that help preserve acidity and aromatic intensity in the grapes. Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella are harvested relatively early to retain freshness, typically picked by hand to maintain berry integrity. The wine is produced in the traditional Chiaretto style, with a brief, controlled maceration on the skins to achieve its delicate color before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve pure fruit aromas and ensure a clean, crisp profile, followed by a short maturation on fine lees to add a touch of roundness without sacrificing liveliness.
Food & Serving
This Bardolino Chiaretto is a versatile food wine, pairing beautifully with antipasti, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, light pasta dishes, seafood risottos and simple grilled fish. It also works well with salads, sushi and mild, soft cheeses, and is an excellent choice for summer picnics or as an aperitif. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its freshness and delicate aromatics. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and pour, allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass to open up.
Producer
Domini Veneti is the premium project of Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, a historic cooperative founded in 1933 in the heart of Valpolicella Classica in northeastern Italy. Launched in 1989, Domini Veneti was created to focus on the finest vineyard sites in the classical area, elevating the region’s traditional varieties and styles through meticulous vineyard selection and modern, quality-driven winemaking. The name refers to the territories that once belonged to the Venetian Republic in the 1500s, underscoring the deep historical roots of the estate. Today, Domini Veneti is widely regarded as a benchmark producer in Valpolicella and Veneto, known especially for its Amarone and Valpolicella wines, and bringing the same care and regional authenticity to lighter, elegant styles such as Bardolino Chiaretto.
