Description
Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2005 is a superb expression of one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most refined Grand Cru sites. Produced by one of Burgundy’s most respected names, it brings together old-vine concentration, biodynamic farming, and the precision of a standout vintage to deliver a wine of remarkable elegance and pedigree.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a graceful, deeply colored Burgundy profile with layers of ripe red berries, cherries, raspberries, and plum. The bouquet is enhanced by subtle notes of liquorice, forest floor, spice, and crushed stone, giving it both aromatic lift and quiet complexity.
On the palate, Latricières-Chambertin is known for its silky texture and beautifully judged balance between power and finesse, and this 2005 vintage captures that character perfectly. The tannins are fine and well integrated, the fruit is pure and precise, and the finish is long, mineral, and nuanced. Thanks to the quality of the vintage and the wine’s structure, it has excellent aging potential and can continue to develop beautifully over many years.
Production
The Latricières-Chambertin vineyard sits in Gevrey-Chambertin on some of the Côte de Nuits’ finest limestone-rich soils, where the cooler, more restrained character of the site lends the wine its signature minerality and elegance. Domaine Trapet farms the parcel biodynamically, with old vines contributing depth and complexity to the final blend.
Harvesting is carried out with careful selection to preserve fruit purity and site expression, and vinification is handled with a light touch to highlight finesse rather than extraction. The result is a Pinot Noir that reflects both the terroir and the domaine’s precise, terroir-driven approach.
Food & Serving
This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with dishes that match its elegance and complexity, such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, beef fillet, truffle-based dishes, or mushroom risotto. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant gently for 1-2 hours if enjoyed young, although older bottles may only need a brief aeration before serving.
Producer
Domaine Trapet Père et Fils is one of Burgundy’s benchmark estates, with a long family history in Gevrey-Chambertin and a strong reputation for crafting wines of depth, purity, and balance. The domaine is particularly admired for its biodynamic philosophy and its ability to capture the distinct personalities of Burgundy’s top terroirs. Over the years, it has earned wide acclaim as one of the most consistent and respected producers in the Côte de Nuits.
