Description
Domaine Tortochot’s Morey-Saint-Denis Cuvée Renaissance 2023 is a charming and polished red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. It combines generous fruit, a rounded texture and finely integrated tannins with the domaine’s traditional approach to expressing Burgundy terroir. The Tortochot family has been involved in winemaking in the Côte de Nuits for four generations, giving this cuvée a strong connection to the region’s long vinous heritage.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby in colour, the wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe red berries, cherry and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is fruit-driven, supple and rounded, with a pleasing balance between freshness and fine-grained tannins. Its charm makes it approachable relatively young, while the structure and acidity should allow it to develop additional complexity over the next several years when well stored.
Production
The wine is produced by Domaine Tortochot, a family domaine with deep roots in the Côte de Nuits. Chantal Tortochot, a trained oenologist, represents the current generation and focuses on producing wines that express their terroir clearly through a traditional Pinot Noir style. Specific details regarding harvesting and vinification for the 2023 Cuvée Renaissance are not provided.
Food & Serving
Enjoy this Morey-Saint-Denis with roast poultry, duck, veal, pork tenderloin or mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with classic Burgundian preparations, including coq au vin and dishes featuring earthy herbs or lentils. Serve lightly cool, around 15–17°C. Decanting is not essential for the 2023 vintage, although a short 20–30-minute decant can help open the wine’s aromas and soften its youthful structure.
Producer
Domaine Tortochot has been in the Tortochot family for four generations, with the family’s winemaking roots traceable to Gevrey and the 19th-century vigneron Paul Tortochot. Today, Chantal Tortochot leads the domaine, ensuring continuity while bringing the perspective of a modern, professionally trained winemaker. The domaine is recognised for its traditional, terroir-focused wines, marked by abundant fruit, firm structure and the freshness characteristic of the Côte de Nuits.
