Domaine Tortochot’s Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corvées 2024 is a richly fruited, structured red Burgundy that captures the classic character of Gevrey-Chambertin: power, depth and firm tannins balanced by lively acidity. Gevrey is often described as the beginning of Burgundy’s “symphony”, and local wine figure Camille Rodier once claimed that only Gevrey-Chambertin could make great Burgundy possible. This is a distinguished appellation with more than a hundred wine estates, and Tortochot remains one of its best-known family domaines.

Tasting Notes
The wine presents a deep ruby-red colour, with an expressive nose led by ripe red and dark berries, complemented by subtle earthy and savoury nuances. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, offering concentrated fruit, impressive length and a beautifully rounded texture. Firm tannins and refreshing acidity provide structure and balance, giving the wine the classic combination of power and restraint associated with Gevrey-Chambertin. Although approachable with some aeration, this is not intended as an especially early-drinking Pinot Noir. It should develop well over the next five years and may mature for longer in vintages marked by particularly favourable ripening conditions.

Production
Produced from Pinot Noir in Gevrey-Chambertin’s Les Corvées climat, the wine reflects the Côte de Nuits’ ability to produce reds with both finesse and strength. Domaine Tortochot’s approach is centred on expressing the character of the terroir through a traditional Gevrey-Chambertin style, marked by abundant fruit, firm tannins and good acidity. Food & Serving
Its structure and ripe fruit make it a natural partner for roast poultry, duck, beef bourguignon, veal, lamb and earthy dishes featuring mushrooms or lentils. Producer
Domaine Tortochot has been in the Tortochot family for four generations, with the family’s roots as winegrowers in Gevrey extending back as far as records allow. The domaine was established in the 19th century by Paul Tortochot, a modest vigneron on Place des Marroniers, and is now led by his great-granddaughter, Chantal. A trained oenologist, Chantal represents a new generation of Burgundian winemakers while maintaining continuity with the domaine’s heritage, producing wines that express the traditional, powerful and age-worthy character of Gevrey-Chambertin.
