The wine displays a luminous cherry-red colour. On the nose, delicate red berries and cherries are complemented by subtle spicy notes, creating an inviting and distinctly Burgundian aromatic profile. On the palate, it is refined and elegant, with a graceful structure, well-judged richness and polished tannins. Its balance of fruit, freshness and firmness gives it both charm and depth. This is not a Pinot Noir intended only for immediate enjoyment; with patience, the wine should develop greater savoury complexity and integration in bottle.

Production
The wine comes from Lavaux St. Jacques, a highly regarded Premier Cru climat in Gevrey-Chambertin on Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The site’s classic limestone- and marl-influenced soils help give Pinot Noir both finesse and structure. Domaine Tortochot’s stated approach is traditional Gevrey-Chambertin: expressive fruit, pronounced tannins and refreshing acidity. Domaine Tortochot is a respected family domaine with roots in Gevrey-Chambertin stretching back four generations. The family’s history in the village can be traced to the 19th century, when Paul Tortochot worked as a modest vigneron at Place des Marroniers. Today, his great-granddaughter Chantal leads the estate. Trained as an oenologist, she represents a new generation of Burgundian winemakers, combining continuity with a clear focus on expressing the character of Gevrey-Chambertin and its individual terroirs.
