Description

Domaine Tony Bornard’s Trousseau Le Garde Corps 2022 is an expressive Jura red made from the region’s distinctive Trousseau grape. Light in colour but full of character, it combines bright red fruit with earthy, savoury nuances and the subtle wildness often associated with traditionally made Jura wines.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a translucent ruby colour, typical of Trousseau, with a vibrant appearance in the glass. Its nose suggests wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, complemented by pepper, dried herbs and a gently earthy, mineral character. On the palate, it is fresh and energetic, with delicate tannins, lively acidity and flavours of red berries, spice and savoury herbs. The 2022 vintage brings a rounded fruit profile while retaining the freshness that makes Trousseau so appealing. It can be enjoyed now for its youthful vibrancy and should develop added savoury complexity over the next several years.

Production
Le Garde Corps is produced in Jura from Trousseau, a traditional local variety known for its pale colour, aromatic intensity and naturally fresh structure. The wine reflects the region’s distinctive marl-influenced terroir and the low-intervention approach associated with Domaine Tony Bornard. Specific details regarding the vineyard site, harvest and vinification are not available.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 14–16°C. Its combination of freshness and gentle tannins makes it a versatile partner for roast poultry, charcuterie, grilled pork, mushroom dishes and Jura specialities such as Comté or chicken with morel mushrooms. A short decant of 20–30 minutes can help open the wine, although it may also be served directly from the bottle for a more vibrant expression.

Producer
Domaine Tony Bornard is based in the Jura, one of France’s most distinctive wine regions, where traditional grape varieties and individual vineyard character take centre stage. The domaine is recognised for expressive, terroir-focused wines made with a restrained, low-intervention philosophy. Its work with varieties such as Trousseau highlights the diversity and personality of Jura’s red wines.
