Description
Domaine Simon Colin’s Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers 2024 is a finely tuned white Burgundy that combines precision, energy, and a graceful touch of oak. Sourced from one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s most respected premier cru sites, it captures the class of the village in a notably elegant, restrained style.
Tasting Notes
This wine shows a refined and understated aromatic profile, with oak used discreetly and seamlessly rather than as a dominant feature. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced and taut, with a crisp, lively texture and a core of mineral drive that leads into a Puligny-like finish—long, fresh, and impressively focused.
The 2024 vintage promises excellent development in bottle, though its structure and tension already make it highly appealing in youth. With time, the wine should gain further complexity and breadth while retaining its precision and mineral edge.
Production
Les Vergers is a premier cru vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet, where the Burgundian terroir typically lends white wines a combination of depth, freshness, and limestone-driven minerality. In this cuvée, 25% new oak has been used and integrated with a light hand, helping to shape the wine without overwhelming its purity or site expression. The result is a style that leans more elegant than opulent, with vinification clearly aimed at finesse and balance.
Food & Serving
Serve this wine with roast chicken, turbot, lobster, scallops, or creamy risotto, as well as fine poultry dishes with mushrooms or subtle butter sauces. It is best enjoyed at around 10–12°C, and while decanting is not essential, a brief aeration can help the wine open up if served in its youth.
Producer
Domaine Simon Colin is a relatively young but increasingly notable estate in Burgundy, carrying forward the Colin family’s deep connection to Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine has quickly earned attention for its precise, site-driven wines and thoughtful balance between tradition and modern refinement, especially in its white Burgundies. Under Simon Colin’s name, the estate is building a strong reputation among collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts alike.
