Domaine Rolet Pere et Fils, Arbois Blanc Chardonnay, 2023

Domaine Rolet Père et Fils Arbois Blanc Chardonnay 2023 is an elegant and supple Chardonnay from Jura, just across the border from Burgundy’s famous white-wine heartland. Crafted with the same precision and complexity that have made great Burgundian Chardonnay so admired, this cuvée offers a refined regional expression with real depth and character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a beautiful golden color. The nose opens with bright notes of lemon, pomelo, green apple and a hint of peach, followed by a drier layer of dried stone fruit, almonds and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, it is fruit-forward yet layered, with a smooth, rounded texture balanced by a fresh, well-integrated acidity. The limestone- and marl-driven minerality brings a subtle flinty edge that adds length and definition. This Chardonnay should drink beautifully now and has the structure to develop further complexity over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from a blend of parcels on the hillside known as En Chagnon in the commune of Montigny-lès-Arsures, where limestone and marl soils help shape the wine’s distinctive mineral, flinty profile. The fruit is harvested from selected vineyard sites and vinified to preserve both freshness and richness. The wine then matures for 9 months in oak barrels, including 30% new oak, which contributes gentle texture and nuance without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, creamy fish dishes, shellfish, mushroom risotto, and Jura-style cheeses such as Comté. Serve it slightly chilled at around 10–12°C. Decanting is not necessary, but a short period in the glass will help the aromas open up nicely.
