Domaine Rois Mages, Rully Les Cailloux Chardonnay 2024 White

Domaine Rois Mages Rully Les Cailloux 2024 is a refined white Burgundy made from Chardonnay in Rully, one of the Côte Chalonnaise’s most expressive villages. Its limestone-rich, stony vineyard soils bring together bright freshness, understated elegance and a distinctly mineral character, while restrained oak use preserves the wine’s purity.

Tasting Notes
Pale in appearance, this Chardonnay opens with inviting aromas of citrus, white peach and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is fresh and precise, supported by lively acidity and a clear mineral core. A lightly creamy finish adds texture and balance without overpowering the wine’s elegant profile. The 2024 vintage is best enjoyed for its freshness and finesse, though the combination of acidity, mineral structure and lees ageing should allow it to develop additional roundness and complexity over the next few years when properly stored.

Production
The Les Cailloux parcels lie on calcareous slopes with stony soils that contribute freshness and mineral definition. Domaine Rois Mages works sustainably, aiming for a terroir-driven style with minimal intervention in the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels, followed by several months of ageing on the lees with periodic bâtonnage. This builds texture and complexity while keeping the oak influence discreet.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. The wine is an excellent match for grilled fish, shellfish and poultry, as well as refined vegetarian dishes and lighter preparations with a creamy sauce. Decanting is not essential, although a brief 15–20 minute aeration in the glass or a small carafe can help reveal its floral and mineral nuances.
