Domaine Rois Mages, Bouzeron 2021 White

Domaine Rois Mages Bouzeron 2021 is a fresh, expressive white Burgundy from one of the Côte Chalonnaise’s most distinctive appellations. Made from Aligoté, Bouzeron’s signature grape, it combines bright citrus character with subtle nuttiness and exotic fruit, offering a lively alternative to more familiar Chardonnay-based Burgundies.

Tasting Notes
Bright and clean in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of citrus fruit, delicate hazelnut and hints of exotic fruit. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing, with a pleasingly rounded texture that balances its vibrant acidity. The finish is fresh and precise, making it particularly appealing in its youth, while careful cellaring for a few years should allow its texture and aromatic complexity to develop further.

Production
The grapes come from Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise, a Burgundy appellation renowned for producing characterful Aligoté wines. To preserve the variety’s natural freshness, the grapes are gently pressed before the must is transferred to stainless-steel tanks, where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place. This approach maintains the wine’s purity, brightness and clear expression of its origin.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its lively acidity and fresh citrus profile make it an excellent partner for oysters, sushi and steamed or grilled shellfish, while its crisp yet supple body also complements veal and poultry. It is equally well suited to goat cheese or ham with parsley. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow the aromas to emerge.

Producer
Domaine Rois Mages was established when Anne Sophie and her husband moved to Burgundy in the 1980s, drawn by the region’s landscapes and vineyards. Her son Felix joined the domaine in 2009 after travelling around the world and now brings his passion as an oenologist and winemaker to the estate. Today, the domaine covers 11 hectares across Rully and Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise and Beaune in the Côte de Beaune, with a focus on creating wines that respect both Burgundy’s traditions and the character of each terroir.
