Tasting Notes
The wine displays a beautiful, clear colour with amber-toned reflections. Its nose is deeply marked by the terroir, revealing refined spicy notes alongside hints of oak, woodland and mushrooms. On the palate, soft tannins provide structure and balance, while the wine’s complexity and delicacy unfold with a poised, elegant finish. Already approachable, the 2021 vintage should gain further nuance with careful cellaring over the next several years. Its earthy, savoury character and balanced structure make it particularly suited to the table.

Production
Domaine Rois Mages farms vineyards across Rully and Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise and Beaune in the Côte de Beaune, where the wines are shaped by the region’s distinctive Burgundy terroir. After a cold pre-fermentation maceration, the wine is fermented for 15 days in vat, with regular pigeage and remontage to extract colour, aroma and structure. It is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop additional complexity while preserving its finesse.

Food & Serving
This Beaune is an excellent match for red meat, leg of lamb, roast pork, roast veal and pink-roasted duck. Serve lightly cool, ideally at 14–16°C, to preserve its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is not essential, but allowing the wine to breathe for 30–60 minutes can help reveal its spicy, earthy character, particularly when enjoyed in its youth.

Producer
Domaine Rois Mages was established in Burgundy in the 1980s by Anne-Sophie and her husband, who were drawn to the region’s landscapes and winegrowing heritage. Their son Felix joined the domaine in 2009 after travelling around the world and, as a passionate oenologist and winemaker, has focused on producing wines that express both Burgundy’s traditions and the character of each terroir. The domaine now covers 11 hectares across the appellations of Rully, Bouzeron and Beaune, giving it a significant presence across the Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune.
