Description

Domaine Rémi Jobard’s Meursault Les Narvaux 2023 is a refined Chardonnay from one of Meursault’s most respected family domaines. The wine combines the appellation’s characteristic richness with remarkable precision and freshness, while its prolonged élevage brings added texture, complexity and cellaring potential. It is a compelling expression of a producer whose vineyards border some of Meursault’s celebrated Village and Premier Cru sites.

Tasting Notes
Bright gold in appearance, this Meursault opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, citrus zest and lightly toasted oak. With air, subtle mineral and nutty notes emerge, adding depth without overshadowing the wine’s freshness. On the palate, it is elegant and finely textured, balancing ripe orchard fruit and creamy richness with a lively line of acidity. The finish is long and poised, marked by chalky minerality and restrained oak. Thanks to its structure and extended maturation, the wine should develop beautifully over the next 5–10 years, gaining further notes of toasted hazelnut, butter and honey.

Production
Les Narvaux is a Meursault Village climat whose elevated position contributes freshness, mineral character and balance. Rémi Jobard has farmed without herbicides or pesticides since 1994, and the domaine’s vineyards have been organically certified since 2011. The Chardonnay is fermented and matured in oak, with an exceptionally long fermentation of around two months; the barrels may even be moved outdoors during colder weather to slow the process and preserve finesse. The wine receives prolonged élevage, allowing its fruit, acidity and oak influence to integrate harmoniously.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C. This Meursault is an excellent match for roast chicken, turbot, grilled or poached lobster, scallops, creamy fish dishes and poultry with mushroom or morel sauce. It also works beautifully with Comté and other mature, moderately strong cheeses. Decanting is not essential for a young bottle, but 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help reveal its aromatic complexity; older bottles are best poured carefully, with minimal aeration.

Producer
Rémi Jobard, son of Charles Jobard and cousin of François Jobard, drew inspiration from the domaine’s distinguished family tradition before taking over its vineyards. Today, Domaine Rémi Jobard covers around 8 hectares and is recognised for producing some of Meursault’s most elegant and ageworthy wines. The domaine’s commitment to organic viticulture, combined with unusually long fermentations and carefully managed oak ageing, has helped establish its reputation for precision, refinement and terroir-driven Burgundy.
