Description

Domaine Rémi Jobard’s Meursault Les Chevalières 2023 is a refined white Burgundy that combines generous ripe-fruit character with remarkable depth, balance and length. Made by one of Meursault’s respected domaines, it reflects a family tradition closely connected to the appellation’s celebrated winemaking heritage, while showcasing Rémi Jobard’s distinctly elegant style.

Tasting Notes
Bright golden in appearance, this Meursault offers an expressive bouquet of ripe yellow fruit and exotic fruit, complemented by delicate notes of honey and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is broad and fruit-driven, yet precise and beautifully balanced, with impressive depth, a rounded texture and a long, refined finish. The wine’s combination of concentration, freshness and careful oak ageing gives it excellent cellaring potential. It can be enjoyed in its youth for its generous fruit and silky texture, but should develop greater complexity and harmony over the next 8–12 years when well stored.

Production
Les Chevalières is a Meursault vineyard in Burgundy, where Chardonnay benefits from the appellation’s classic limestone-rich terroir and a favourable balance of ripeness and freshness. Domaine Rémi Jobard farms approximately 8 hectares, and has avoided herbicides and pesticides since 1994; all its vineyards have been organically certified since 2011. Fermentation is deliberately extended—often for around two months, with barrels moved outdoors when necessary to slow the process. The wine is then matured in oak, with used barrels employed for the less prestigious appellations and around 30% new oak reserved for the domaine’s higher-ranking wines.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C, allowing the wine to warm gradually in the glass and reveal its full aromatic depth. It is a natural match for roast or grilled fish, shellfish, lobster, poultry in a creamy sauce, and veal, while its richness also complements mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but a brief 20–30 minute decant can help open the wine, particularly when served young.

Producer
Rémi Jobard, son of Charles Jobard and cousin of François Jobard, was inspired by the two influential winemakers and eventually took over this distinguished Meursault domaine. The estate benefits from an enviable collection of vineyards, with its Burgundy parcels situated directly alongside Meursault Village and Meursault Premier Cru sites. Since taking a more sustainable approach to viticulture and achieving organic certification in 2011, Jobard has become known for wines marked by precision, refinement, elegance and outstanding ageing potential.
