Description
Domaine Rémi Jobard’s Meursault Le Poruzot-Dessus élevage Prolongé 2023 is an elegant and deeply expressive white Burgundy from one of Meursault’s respected domaines. Made from Chardonnay and given an extended élevage, it combines ripe fruit, refined oak and remarkable length with the mineral poise associated with this distinguished appellation.
Tasting Notes
Bright golden in appearance, this Meursault opens with a broad, inviting bouquet of ripe yellow fruit and exotic fruit, complemented by notes of honey and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is generous yet beautifully balanced, with impressive depth, a refined texture and a long, persistent finish. The extended élevage adds complexity and harmony without overwhelming the fruit. It is approachable now with decanting, but has the structure and concentration to develop gracefully for approximately 8–12 years, depending on storage conditions.
Production
The wine comes from Le Poruzot-Dessus, a well-regarded Meursault climat situated among the appellation’s premier vineyard sites. Rémi Jobard has farmed without herbicides or pesticides since 1994, and the domaine’s vineyards have been organically certified since 2011. The wine undergoes an exceptionally long fermentation of around two months, with the barrels even moved outdoors during colder periods to extend the process. It is then matured in oak, with the prolonged élevage contributing to its finesse, complexity and ageing potential.
Food & Serving
Serve at around 11–13°C after allowing the wine to warm slightly in the glass. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, veal in a creamy sauce, grilled or roasted turbot, lobster, scallops and mature cheeses such as Comté. A short decant of 30–60 minutes can help reveal its layers, particularly when enjoyed young; older bottles are best handled gently and poured carefully.
Producer
Rémi Jobard, son of Charles Jobard and nephew of François Jobard, belongs to a family with deep roots in Meursault. Inspired by these influential Burgundy producers, he took over the domaine and has built a reputation for precise, elegant wines from parcels located directly alongside Meursault Village and Premier Cru vineyards. The domaine currently covers around eight hectares and is recognised for its organic approach, extended fermentations and restrained use of oak—used barrels for the more modest appellations and around 30% new oak for the higher-tier wines.
