Description

Domaine Parigot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Damodes' 2023 is a finely tuned Pinot Noir from one of the more elegant Premier Cru sites on the northern edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges, right by Vosne-Romanée. The vineyard’s high-altitude, limestone-driven character brings lift, perfume, and finesse, making this a more refined expression than the typically more powerful wines further south in the appellation.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby colour with an inviting, vibrant sheen. The nose opens with wild raspberries, cranberries, rose petals, and a subtle hint of spice and toast from the barrel ageing. On the palate, it is precise and focused, with pure red fruit, chalky mineral tension, and lively acidity giving the wine definition and length. The tannins are fine and polished, while the finish is elegant, persistent, and layered. This is a wine with good ageing potential, and it should develop additional complexity over the next 8–12 years.

Production
The grapes come from the Premier Cru climat 'Les Damodes', a high-altitude site with a strong limestone influence that naturally encourages freshness and aromatic detail. The 2023 vintage benefited from balanced growing conditions and full, even ripening, and the fruit was harvested by hand with careful sorting in the cellar. Vinification is carried out with a proportion of whole clusters to enhance structure and complexity, followed by spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then matured for 12–14 months in French oak barrels, with a small share of new oak, and Domaine Parigot works with a minimal-intervention philosophy to preserve the vineyard’s natural expression.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile and refined Burgundy that pairs beautifully with roast duck, guinea fowl, pigeon, herb-crusted lamb, mushroom dishes, or lightly aged cheeses. Serve at 15–17°C and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to open up the aromatics in its youth.

Producer
Domaine Parigot is based in Meloisey in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and has built a strong reputation for producing precise, terroir-driven Burgundy. Over time, the estate has expanded its holdings to include top sites in the Côte de Nuits, where it is particularly valued for its restrained, elegant style. The domaine is known for a careful, minimally interventionist approach and for wines that consistently reflect both vineyard origin and classic Burgundian balance.
