Description
Domaine Nicolas Hautes-Côtes de Beaune En Château 2023 is a single-parcel red Burgundy with a notably expressive, fruit-forward character. Its combination of dark-fruit intensity, oak-derived smoky and caramel notes, and firm structure gives the wine both immediate appeal and distinctive complexity.
Tasting Notes
The wine displays a vivid purple colour. On the nose, intense aromas of blackberry and other dark fruits are complemented by hints of spice, with subtle smoky and caramel notes from 12 months of maturation in barriques. The palate is powerful and well structured, balancing concentrated fruit with a polished, harmonious finish.
Its firm structure and oak ageing should allow it to develop additional savoury and tertiary nuances over the next few years. It is approachable now with decanting, but can also be cellared in the short to medium term for greater integration.
Production
Produced from a single parcel in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, this wine undergoes 12 months of ageing in wooden barrels, including barriques. The single-site origin contributes to its distinctive character and balance. Further details regarding the vineyard’s specific terroir, harvesting methods, and vinification are not available.
Food & Serving
A natural match for roasted meats, boeuf bourguignon, and beef served with pepper sauce. It also pairs well with mild, creamy cheeses such as Délice de Pommard and Cîteaux. Serve lightly cool, around 15–17°C, and consider decanting for approximately 30–45 minutes before serving to soften the structure and open the aromas.
